Privacy Policy

1. Scope and who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how personal data is handled in connection with the asset4gag application for macOS (the “App”) and the website on which this policy is published (the “Website”). The App and the Website are provided by Ali Osman Ay, an independent developer (“we”, “us”, “our”).

To the extent any personal data is processed as described below, we are the data controller for the purposes of the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK) and comparable laws. You can reach us at ayaliosman@icloud.com.

2. Information we do not collect

The App is designed to work without collecting any information about you. We do not collect, receive or have access to:

• names, email addresses, phone numbers or any other contact or identity details;
• account credentials — the App has no sign-in or account system;
• your images, generated assets, file names or folder locations;
• location, contacts, photos library, camera, microphone or other device data;
• usage data, analytics, diagnostics or crash reports through our own or third-party tools;
• advertising identifiers or any identifier used for tracking.

The App contains no third-party software development kits (SDKs) for analytics, advertising, crash reporting or tracking. The App does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies. Accordingly, the App’s privacy label on the App Store is “Data Not Collected”.

3. Your images and files

You choose which image the App works with, by opening it, dragging it into the window or pasting it from the clipboard. The App runs in Apple’s App Sandbox and can only access the files and folders you explicitly select.

• Source images are decoded and processed in your Mac’s memory. The App does not keep its own copies of your images after you close it.
• Generated assets are written only to the destination folder you choose.
• If a folder with the same name already exists in that location, the App asks for your confirmation and then moves the existing folder to the Trash instead of deleting it permanently.

Because this processing happens only on your device, we never see or receive your images. If an image contains personal data (for example, a photo of a person), that data remains under your sole control.

4. On-device background removal

The optional background removal feature uses Apple’s Vision framework, which is built into macOS. The analysis runs locally on your Mac. No image, mask or result is sent to us, to Apple or to anyone else as part of this feature.

5. Preferences stored on your Mac

The App stores two settings locally using the standard macOS preferences system (UserDefaults):

• your appearance preference (System, Light or Dark); and
• whether background removal should run automatically when an image is loaded.

These settings are not personal data. They never leave your Mac, are not accessible to us and are removed when you delete the App and its container.

6. Network access

The App does not make network connections and does not require an internet connection to function. It sends no data to any server operated by us or by third parties. If you choose a link in the App (for example, to this policy or to support), it opens in your default web browser, and that browser’s and the linked website’s own privacy practices apply.

7. Apple and the App Store

The App is distributed through Apple’s App Store. When you download, purchase or update apps, Apple processes information about you in accordance with the Apple Privacy Policy. We do not control that processing.

Apple may provide developers with aggregated, anonymized statistics (such as download counts). If you have enabled “Share with App Developers” in your Mac’s privacy settings, Apple may also share crash reports and diagnostic data with us. These reports do not identify you to us and are used only to fix bugs and improve stability. You can turn this setting off at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.

8. When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address and any information you choose to include in your message. We use it only to respond to you and to provide support, based on our legitimate interest in answering your request (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) or on steps taken at your request. We do not use it for marketing and do not share it with third parties except our email provider, which acts on our behalf. We delete support correspondence when it is no longer needed, and in any case within 24 months of the last contact, unless we are required by law to keep it longer.

9. This website

The Website is a static site. It does not use cookies, analytics, advertising, tracking pixels, external fonts or third-party scripts.

The Website is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. When you visit it, Cloudflare necessarily processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and request time in order to deliver the page and protect it against abuse. We do not use this data to identify you. Cloudflare processes it under its own Privacy Policy and, where applicable, standard contractual clauses for international transfers. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

10. Children’s privacy

The App is a general-purpose developer tool and is not directed at children. Because the App collects no personal data from anyone, it does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), consistent with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the GDPR. If you believe a child has sent us personal data by email, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR and UK GDPR, KVKK, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA (CCPA), Brazil’s LGPD, Canada’s PIPEDA and other data protection laws. These may include the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal data; to restrict or object to processing; and to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.

Because the App does not collect personal data, in most cases we hold no data about you. The only data we may hold is email correspondence you have sent us. To exercise any right, email ayaliosman@icloud.com. We will respond within the period required by applicable law, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

California residents: We do not sell or share personal information, as those terms are defined in the CCPA, and we have not done so in the preceding 12 months.

12. Security and international users

Keeping processing on your device is the strongest safeguard we can offer: data that is never collected cannot be lost, leaked or misused by us. The App uses the macOS App Sandbox and only accesses files you explicitly choose. You remain responsible for the security of your Mac and the files stored on it.

This policy applies to users worldwide. Where a local law grants you greater protection than this policy, that law applies.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if the App’s features change. We will post the updated version on this page and change the “Last updated” date. If a change materially affects how personal data is handled, we will provide notice in the App or in its App Store release notes before the change takes effect.
